Philbert Maurice d'Ocagne (1862–1938) was a French engineer and mathematician, celebrated for his development of nomograms, also known as nomographs. Educated at the École Polytechnique, d'Ocagne was dedicated to simplifying complex calculations in fields such as engineering and mathematics. In 1884, he introduced nomograms as a graphical calculation tool, allowing users to solve equations by aligning variables on parallel scales. His work had a profound impact on engineering, science, and medicine, providing a quicker, more accessible alternative to manual calculations.
