Isaac Newton (1643-1727) was an English physicist, mathematician, and one of history’s greatest thinkers. Famous for his laws of motion and gravity, Newton also laid vital groundwork for the mathematical tools we use today.
While Newton didn’t invent the Cartesian coordinate system or graph paper, his pioneering work in calculus and mechanics relied heavily on these concepts. By visualising motion and force mathematically, Newton demonstrated how equations could describe the natural world. His influence cemented the link between mathematics and geometry, inspiring the structured tools like graphs and grids we now take for granted.
